Coffee Quality
Myself and a few other students have expressed a concern with the coffee that is available in Antonian Hall. I know that for me personally, I no longer drink it at all as it makes me feel nauseous for a good part of the day. I know of at least 2-3 other people who have experienced this same issue, but I'm not sure how widespread it might be. What could be causing this is the coffee being burned when it is being brewed, or being left to sit in the machines themselves could be what is causing it. I was wondering if there was a way to look into this. Another question relating to this is the hot water available for tea. Putting the water in a coffee machine makes the water taste like coffee, which has been a topic of concern for a few friends of mine. Thanks!

Our executive Chef, Marlanea Wheaton, updated me on the coffee situation.
Chef Marlanea drinks the coffee here all throughout the day and knows first hand that the coffee is not being burned or left to sit in the machines. However, there is a related issue that may have affected you.
There was a period when we were using up a different coffee from our usual Green Mountain. This coffee should not have posed a health concern, but drinking something different from what you are used to might have contributed to the effect. We are now back to only serving Green Mountain. You may want to give it a try and see how you feel.
As for the tea,
Thank you for pointing that out! You helped alert us to a problem. We are now planning on making a filter purchase that should resolve the issue. I am changing the status of this topic to "Planned" in reference to the tea tasting like coffee. We now have a solution planned. Check back here for our progress on the issue. Thanks Brian!

Hey Brian,
A new development on the coffee front. It turns out that we recently discovered build up in the water filter used with our coffee maker. Just last week this was thoroughly cleaned. It could be that this is what you and your friends were noticing.
If you're willing to give our coffee another try, I would love to know whether the problem has been fixed in your eyes. Thanks for your help Brian!
